About the Tyneside Association
The Tyneside Association is a branch of the National 'Walsingham Association' and members share in all the many benefits thereof. Over the years, some of our pilgrims have started a branch of the National Walsingham Association in their own area. So now there are five other branches of the National Walsingham Association in Hexham and Newcastle Diocese and they are independent of the Tyneside Association. These branches are: Hebburn, Newton Aycliffe, Sedgefield, South Shields, and Wear Valley Association. Their members often join us on pilgrimage as well as organising their own journey to Our Lady's Shrine. They also have their own programme of activities. Non-members can also join us on either pilgrimage to Our Lady’s Shrine at Walsingham.
The Tyneside Association Annual Mass
In addition to the two main pilgrimages, we also have our annual Eucharistic Celebration in honour of Our Lady of Walsingham on, or near to, her Feast Day of Sept 24th. The venue is usually at a parish which has an active membership. The 2011 Mass is to be offered on Friday 23rd September at the Church of Our Blessed Lady Immaculate, in Village Lane, Washington, Tyne & Wear, at 7.0pm. The Principal Celebrant will be Bishop Seamus Cunningham. All welcome.
Walsingham’s Holy House 950th Anniversary Celebrations
Note that September 24th 2011 will mark the end of six months of celebrations for the 950th Anniversary.
Tyneside Association Committee: Quarterly Meetings:
A small committee meets together with the Spiritual Director of the Tyneside Association, Fr John Butters, at St Joseph's in Gateshead (opposite Gateshead Interchange), approximately every three months. The next meeting is at 7.0pm - Tuesday September 20th 2011. All activities are discussed and decided upon here. They welcome interested members. Although you can join our pilgrimages without membership, by joining the Tyneside Association you become part of the National one. Check out the many benefits of membership via the link, listed at the end of this site, to the National Walsingham Association.
Annual National Membership Rates:
Family: £16
Ordinary: £12
